One evening, two films, and all the suave, moody acting you could ask for from James Mason in the late 40s. #BNoirDetour offers for your consideration a double-feature of The Upturned Glass and Caught.

In both a late British and his first American film, Mason plays doctors involved with vulnerable women. In The Upturned Glass, Mason is a brain surgeon who concocts a lethal punishment for the woman who murdered his beloved. In Caught, he’s a down-to-earth humanitarian doc who wants to help a woman escape her abusive spouse. In both, he shows his talent and charisma opposite a strong supporting cast.
