A busy week then a trip out of state limited my usual screening indulgences, so just two for now:

Operation Diplomat (1953): The more I watch Guy Rolfe, the more I like him. He’s enjoyable in this tale of a doctor who gets wrapped up in the kidnapping of a diplomat. I’d call the film a kind of B Hitchcock Lite, and less noir than I was expecting. Although I enjoyed it, I’m gonna guess others might not be. So, NOT RECOMMENDED.

Race Street (1948): Gotta love the cobbled-together goofy noirish name for this picture, featuring Raft as a criminal trying to go straight who gets caught up in murder and mayhem. Raft is sharp, Bendix is endearing, and Marilyn Maxwell is quite good, too. MILDLY RECOMMENDED.
