Day 21 Most Overrated [Noir] Movie
Limiting myself to noir has made this 30-day challenge very challenging indeed! It would be reasonable for me to pick Double Indemnity. The film gets too much credit when it is more exemplification than exemplary. And I’ve already used that film in this challenge and don’t want to repeat. I also find The Maltese Falcon overrated, but that’s primarily because I don’t find Astor an effective femme fatale, more a lying mess. Instead, I’m going to lament my disappointment with Siodmak’s The Killers. Waste of Ava Gardner as femme fatale and pretty boring for a noir. I wanted much more than this film gave, and have never wanted to see it again.
THE KILLERS (1946)
Sorry fans: I call ’em as I see ’em.
